The unprecedented exhibition, spanning 15,000 square meters, attracted 348 exhibitors and over 19,000 visitors. On this professional platform, ETON showcased its leading SMT (Surface Mount Technology) solutions to industry professionals from around the world.

What is SMT? Unveiling the Secrets of Surface Mount Technology

SMT (Surface Mount Technology) is the most popular technology and process in the electronics assembly industry. It is a circuit assembly technique that involves mounting leadless or short-lead surface mount components (SMC/SMD) on the surface of a printed circuit board or other substrate, soldering them together through methods such as reflow or dip soldering.

Compared to traditional through-hole assembly, SMT offers advantages such as high density, high reliability, low cost, and miniaturization. This technology has enabled modern electronic devices to become increasingly compact and powerful, and is an indispensable key technology in the manufacturing of LED lighting products.

ETON has been deeply involved in the SMT field for 14 years. Since its establishment in 2011, it has held over 200 patents, including over 30 invention patents, over 60 software copyrights, and several internationally pioneering technology patents. Its number of core patents ranks first among its domestic peers.

Pick and Place Machines: The Perfect Blend of Precision and Speed

The most eye-catching features at ETON's booth were its Honor Series YT20S and YT20DS SMT pick and place machines. These machines represent the pinnacle of domestic SMT pick and place machines, breaking the long-standing monopoly of foreign brands in this field.

High-speed and universal integration are the primary characteristics of ETON's SMT pick and place machines. Traditionally, high-speed and universal SMT pick and place machines were separated into two distinct categories: high-speed machines offered higher speed but lower precision, while universal machines offered higher precision but lower speed. ETON successfully achieved a perfect fusion of these two through its independently developed integrated placement head.

Zhang Weihua, co-founder of ETON, explained at the press conference: "To achieve high speed and versatility, we tried many methods. After more than five years of exploration, we finally found an integrated casting process for the placement head. This integrated casting ensures the strength of the placement head and prevents deformation."

This breakthrough technology enables the ETON placement machine to achieve a placement accuracy of ±0.02mm. Several core technologies, such as high-end magnetic levitation motors, single-phase 220V linear motors, and R-axis 1-control-1 independent rotation angle control systems, are world firsts.

Innovative Technology: The Technical Core of ETON's Precision Placement Machine

The precision placement machine demonstrated by ETON consists of four core components: a loading table, a processing area, a workbench, and a robot.

The loading table holds substrates of varying sizes.

A camera in the processing area records the position of substrates within the processing area.

The workbench holds substrates to be placed.

The robot arm includes a gripper assembly, an adjustment assembly, a sensor, and a drive assembly. The sensor is used to sense the distance between the gripper assembly and the substrate.

The gripper assembly of this device features an innovative design, consisting of a suction plate, a manifold, and a through-tube. The manifold connects the gripper plate and the through-tube, allowing air pressure from the through-tube to act on the gripper plate.

The gripper plate comprises multiple suction cups, a connecting plate, and balls. The connecting plate connects the manifold to each suction cup, and the balls are located between the suction cups and the connecting plate. This design allows the suction cups to generate negative pressure when applied to sealed areas of the substrate, or to become blocked between the manifold and the suction cups when applied to airtight areas.

This precision mechanical design ensures that the device can handle a wide variety of PCB substrates, adapting to diverse production needs and resolving the difficulty traditional placement machines face in achieving both precision and efficiency.

 

Egypt Market: Huge Potential for LED Lighting

Egypt is Africa's second most populous country and has long been a leader in the region in economic and technological fields. With Egypt's economic growth in recent years and the rise in the number of wealthy Egyptians, market demand for next-generation, energy-saving LED lighting has also increased.

The Egyptian government has implemented an energy diversification strategy, the Integrated Sustainable Energy Strategy (ISES) to 2035, to ensure the continued security and stability of the country's energy supply. This strategy involves accelerating the development of renewable energy and energy efficiency through a robust rehabilitation and maintenance program in parts of the power sector.

Market data indicates that demand for lighting systems in Egypt is expected to grow at an annual rate of 19% over the next five years. In terms of motion control, ETON's X, Y, and Z axes all utilize magnetic levitation motors, which, combined with its motion control system, achieve high-precision motion control. The Y-axis utilizes a dual-drive gantry structure. By utilizing high-end magnetic levitation motors and universal placement head technology, the Y-axis achieves a 25% increase in placement capacity compared to traditional models, achieving a placement speed of 98,000 cycles per hour under optimal conditions.

Flexible support for production sites is another major advantage of ETON equipment. 2 In response to international green energy trends, ETON has optimized all motor drives on its equipment, requiring only a single-phase 220V power supply with a maximum power of 1500 watts. 2 This simplifies on-site wiring and improves interference resistance.
